The status of Player Staff was created in January 2009 to allow players to contribute to the game without becoming full Staff members. Player Staff had limited access to certain administrator functions in their respective departments to allow contributions to be made to those areas. The first two Player Staff to be hired were [[User:bcfcespley|bcfcespley]] as Graphics Admin and [[User:Scott|Scott]] as Wiki Admin.
Player Staff was created by [[Zorg]] in Jan '09. It was for players that had the ability to continue playing but have staff access to a department and [[Moderators|player guide]] access to the [[Ticket Help|ticket system]]. The first two to be hired as Player Staff were [[User:Bcfcespley|bcfcespley (Graphics Admin)]] and [[User:Scott|Scott (Wiki Admin)]]. People attacked Player Staff as an excuse for it being "unfair on staff that gave up the right to continue playing". [[User:Scott|Scott]] was promoted to hidden staff in May '09, leaving [[User:bcfcespley|bcfcespley]] as the only Player Staff left. On 21<sup>st</sup> July '09 Zorg decided that he didn't want any Player Staff in the game and as such, [[User:bcfcespley|bcfcespley]] was offered an ultimatum. He could either choose to become full time staff, or become a player again, with no Staff powers at all. bcfcespley chose the latter. Others say he was fired, but without proof neither of these can be accepted as truth or false.
As of Jan 5<sup>th</sup> '17 player staff were reintroduced into Legacy again, applications were opened by [[Will]] to the public in order to hire players to join the staff team as a player staff.
The introduction of the Player Staff status was controversial at the time. Before the Player Staff position was created, players were forced to give up their accounts to contribute to Legacy as Staff members, however this was no longer necessary with the introduction of Player Staff.
The Player Staff status was abolished in July 2009 with Player Staff at this time either hired as Staff or asked to step down.
The Volunteer Helper role is the spiritual successor to the Player Staff role and was introduced in January 2017. Volunteer Helpers are normal players with elevated privileges allowing access to the Staff System and administrator access to their respective departments.

The Legacy Staff Clan
The Staff control most aspects of what goes on in Legacy. A secret clan, nobody truly knows how many Staff there are. When trying to gain access to the Staff's Headquarters, you recieve this message.
Most staff are hired when the Staff Manager (Currently Will) calls for staff applications in the Main Forum. Anyone can apply for staff positions until the deadline posted by the staff managers.
