Legacy podcast - Episode 1

  • INTRO*

Matt: Have we even named this podcast or anything yet?

Zach: Nope, the furthest we went was um just the music.

Matt: haha, right yeah got my sexy opening.

  • both laugh*

Matt: Well, anyway. Welcome to the first ever, and I'm calling it the first ever because it's probably the first time in 10 years - legacy podcast. We are your hosts. MattG2.

Zach: And Zach.

Matt: As well as Zach. So Zach, tell me a little bit about yourself, my friend.

Zach: Well. uhh. I work at a grocery store named Sobeys. I hate my life, yup.

Matt: That's fair.

Zach: Yup, um. I also have been playing legacy for 10 years of my life.

Matt: Right right. Well, that's amazing. So, the grocery store how long have you been there?

Zach: Er, 6 years now.

Matt: I will tell you, Sobeys is like my favorite place to go in the world. In general, probably not for you.

  • both laugh*

Zach: No, not for me no.

Matt: Well, I'm Matt. You may or may not know who I am because of Legacy. I work at a store called Eastlink where I sell cell-phones, internet cable, people still buy telephones. People still but all that fun stuff, been at it for about 3 years. But I've been more importantly playing Legacy for over 10 years. So 10 years of my life that I'm never going to get back. But, I'm in too deep anyway now.

Zach: Who needs to get 10 years of their life back anyway

  • Matt laughs*

Matt: No joke I was 12 years old when I started playing this game. Haha, I was 12. So it's great. Well, Philly actually got me into it, who Philly got into it from his brother Draco, who got into it by Vinnie, who I believe got it from food. So that's how it all started. But yeah, most recently I've become staff on Legacy. So, I mean automatically that's a pass to hate me. So we got that going for us now.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: Anyway, so. The whole point of this podcast is to kind of round up everything that has been going on legacy lately and kinda opening up some discussion. So we've made an agenda. Zach and i. Um so essentially I'd like to start things off by talking about the wasteland you know. So Zach who do you feel about the wasteland.

Zach: Um, well. The wasteland is being quite dominated right now by the outcast. They were in hiding I suppose for the past 2 maps and all of a sudden they just come out of nowhere and they dominate.

  • Matt laughs*

Matt: They are currently sitting on 2 barracks right now which is I mean optimal warfare wasteland points right.

Zach: Yup.

Matt: So they're looking good. TC is looking rather strong, they got 7 squares right now. Personal last to your record if you ask me.

  • both laugh*

Matt: Which is funny because I love TC, I actually still think of that as my home today. But you know you gotta play for the gangs that are doing well if you wanna succeed. Um yeah, people are going to hate me for that. *laughs*

Matt: But if you look at the wasteland map, one thing I've never totally understood, it might be because they don't have a ton of activity. They are touching OC buildings right now and I see guards on all those buildings currently. They could have so easy warfare points unless you know people like snowflake are going after them but yeah, they could be doing a little bit of damage. That being said, when I look at the online now currently there at 6 TC online and all of them haven't been active in the past 10 minutes.

Zach: When you look at the Outcast one it's about 7 active then um.

Matt: There's a second page on there.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: Ha ha ha. That's great. So yeah, what brings you into BoD Zach? What makes you like them?

Zach: Well, it was the only gang that I haven't been in my entire time here on Legacy. I've been hopping, on my first account, I was hopping between TC and OC all the time. I've been to df once on that account and then on this account I just been between TC, outcast majority once.

Matt: Damn, you know your way around.

Zach: Yup. This is my first time in BoD and I'm liking it here. I left TC because it wasn't as active and I just wanted something new so.

Matt: Yeah, sucks how cyclical that problem is because you've got TC and DF who like when you put it down to it's most rudimentary level I think blue and red is the coolest of the 4 colors. And I think a lot of people can agree with that. But them not having activity causes what active players they have to move away from the gang which then, in turn, makes the gang less active, it's cyclical and I don't think it can be fixed overnight. Like you'd have to have a lot of people sacrificing where they are to fix something that may not even be repairable.

Zach: Yeah, it's true.

Matt: But that being said, I'm part of that problem because I love TC but I went to BoD so.

Zach: Well DF was doing pretty good at the start of the map until the start of June when they just crumbled.

Matt : Yeah, i heard rumblings of DF and OC had like a, not like an agreement but you know they had a border that they weren't kinda going over and then to my understanding, of course, I'm not an expert in wasteland annals but they appeared to have gone over the border once and went for a building which kinda ended that treaty. OC can handle there selfs, they've got 3 gangs piled in right now. Like I see BoD making a line for the artifact right now, but other than that I don't think there's much resistance. But I mean enough about the wasteland, it's been a topic of discussion for over 10 years anyway and one gang will always dominate I think anyways. Like BoD I think it was like 2 years they dominated.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: So like 8 straight wasteland maps. Oh, look the system is going off again saying gibberish right now. So I don't know if Zorg is not paying the bills or whatever.

Zach: Yeah, I don't know what is happening there.

Matt: But yeah, one thing that we should defiantly talk about is the crafting system. Like what do you think about the crafting system?

Zach: Oh, man. I just recently got into it because of all the new blueprints and stuff.

Matt: Yeah.

Zach: I hadn't touched it when it first came out.

Matt: I mean it's a little demotivating when um the experience doubles for every level. *Matt laughs*

Zach: But when I first started, it was kind of repetitive, tedious I suppose.

Matt: Right.

Zach: Because you just had to keep clicking and clicking and there's no space to spam.

Matt: Yeah yeah. Exactly.

Zach: The only person that was insane, I guess sain enough to do it was Crippler.

Matt: Yeah, funny story about that. I was pretending to fight off alongside him to get uh highest levels as quick as possible, but I actually was doing nothing. So I was letting him know I was already level 5 when he was level 3. It was actually really funny cause' he really cared about that. But yeah, right now I'm level 7 which I think took 6 or 7 hours of grinding the hospital. Basically buying 20 revives, buying 20 small meds, making 20 upgraded revives, selling them and repeat basically. If I were to get to level 8 right now, which I do fully intend on doing hopefully in the next few days. I have to get, excuse the keyboard noise *smashes keyboard against wall*. 16,000 experience at 2.4 experience per revive. I have to make 6600 revives before I get to level 8.

Zach: That is a lot of revives.

Matt: Yeah, it's a ridiculous amount, we're talking like hundreds of inventories of revives.

Zach: Well, right now I'm level 2 and a half crafting.

Matt: Oh damn.

Zach: Yeah, I've gotten that in the past, I suppose 3 hours I've been working on it.

Matt: Yeah, that's not too bad.

Zach: Yeah, it's been about 2 days.

Matt: Ha, ha, ha. Yeah, I mean I'm just trying to get level 8 right now because as it stands you can make a Q-15 at level 8 crafting. I currently have my T2 railgun ready to go, I've got the - I'm looking for the perfect fire crystal right now. So hit me up if you've got one to sell. Um I have about 2 gold plates worth of goods right now, but you can make those until level 8, you need 5. Hmm, what else is there - I think it's 5 large power cells as well you need.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: Yup so I pretty much got the important stuff. I've got the T2 railgun, the first crystal will find it's way, that'll be fine. The gold plates, I've been specifically eyeing the market. But I'm not going to be spending more than 300 credits per ore.

Zach: My goal is level 9 crafting for that BEAUTIFUL double sniper rifle.

Matt: The rumors, beauty.

Zach: Yeah, double-barrel sniper rifle. That is my goal.

Matt: I'm hoping that the kinda stats that they are testing out for it right now, they look very interesting. My goal honestly is just to make these weapons and try to turn a profit on them.

Zach: Yeah, I wanna do that.

Matt: I think the Q-15, the most trades you can craft it with right now with is 1 trade because of the large power cells they can only be one trade. So watch out, if you're crafting and you're trying to make a Q-15 don't put any 0 trade recipe pieces in it because it will make you Q-15's 0 trades.

Zach: Unless you want that, to just keep your weapon.

Matt: Yeah, yeah, if you wanna keep it. For me personally, I'm making it and going on side chat like who's buying. Alright cool, let's do some business together.

  • both laugh*

Matt: But yeah, the UI recently changed as well. I think we can thank Rollin for that one. If you were to look at a recipe right now, it use to tell you everything that you could use to make your recipe, but now it actually shows you the pictures.

Zach: It also tells you if you're getting less experience if you're a higher level.

Matt: Which by the way, that's crippling. I'm making upgraded revives at -40% experience right now.

Zach: It also tells you, your crafting level and your experience now. It never use to do that.

Matt: Right right, yup. It's got it all now.

Zach: Because people were complaining that they couldn't see their crafting level anymore. So they had to put it in there somewhere.

Matt: Yup, yup. Yeah, it's nice to see there. It would be kinda cool to get like um a kinda hive top 10 crafting experience, that would be cool.

Zach: Oh yes. That would make so much more sense. It would also show how many people craft.

Matt: Oh yeah. Shout out to Don, is it Dondadadon? He's hitting me up in the inbox tryna sell me some gold ore. So how much do you think it's worth Zach. He's got 9 of them.

Zach: Gold ore, um. I'd say gold ore is about 250 to 300.

Matt: Yeah. You know what, I'm going to be nice to him. I'm going to offer him 350 each. Just let me get a shout out to him again if he's listening to this. *he literally smashes the keyboard typing back to him*. And if he says no, I'll just have to talk some shit about him, to be honest. SO yeah, we got through with the crafting, next on our list right now would be the drones.

Zach: Ah, you missed one, you missed one. What do X-Balls even do?

Matt: Oh yeah, we got the X-Balls, that's right. So I've never seen them, I've never had one before. What do they do? *laughs*

Zach: So the X-Balls are dropped from one of the wasteland NPCs. I'm assuming if I remember correctly, it's one of the dealers. They absolutely do nothing. They're an absolute Aldo troll when they first came out. When he released them, he made everyone believe that they did something when you talked to rats, try and capture one.

Matt: Like A Pokemon.

Zach: Just like Pokemon. They absolutely do nothing. I'm the only one with an X-Ball that has a Voltrat in it. And it was completely trolled, he gave it to me. He made me spell as this nonsense to you guys to make it believe that it was real.

Matt: That's great haha.

Zach: X-Balls do nothing.

Matt: I mean it could be a collectible, like 10 years from now maybe it might be worth something to a collector.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: I am a collector myself, I actually have and nobody thinks this is cool except myself, but I have a set of flowers in my storage right now. They are ID 6388 meaning that they were the 6388th item ever generated on Legacy which seems very cool to me because we are in the millions now.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, we must be in the millions. I know we are at 960,000. Oh, not sorry. That's 9 million. So almost 10 million items now. So yeah that's pretty cool, right? 6388 that's pretty good. Yup, nobody cares.

  • both laugh*

Matt: Oh look, man Dondadadon is giving me those ores.

Zach: Alright, about Drones.

Matt: Yeah, so Drones. Right now all you can do is rent them, currently. Which is kind of just a limited, at least to my understanding it's just a limited system now, but soon enough we will be able to pour some money into actually buying them and having them do missions for us. Which I can only assume means repairing them as well.

Zach: Yes, um. I also want to thank Bongo for this update. It's amazing.

  • Matt laughs*

Zach: Yeah, it helps to spend money, it helps to craft a whole lot easier. But I'm still going for that Abyss crystal at level 10 scavenger.

Matt: Oh ok you can get a full Abyss crystal at level 10 scavenger.

Zach: Yeah, yeah. It's the same drop rate as gatekeepers. So yeah it's pretty low but that is my goal.

Matt: What do you think the best method of getting the most yield is right now? Like so you can choose your job level from 1-10 and you can choose your droid basically or your drone that has a certain percentage of durability efficiency and reliability. What is the perfect yield spot do you think? Like what level, which drone?

Zach: For mining I... Level 1 with job 1 I think is the best because anything higher you have a chance of that bot failing.

Matt: Oh, really?

Zach: Yup. And when it first came out I was using level 10's and the first 2 failed and even on dev they kept failing. So level 1 mining is the best I would assume. And for scavenger, I've been doing level 10's.

Matt: I'll be honest, I've been mining more than I've been scavenging. Odysseus is the one I've been using because reliability is the most important thing I can imagine.

Zach: Yup.

Matt: Just for the record, it's got 25% bonus reliability, which means it's going to crash a whole lot less. But it might necessarily not bring as many items to you.

Zach: Yeah, like I think the max that it can get is like 4-5. It can also give as low as 2 or 1.

Matt: Yeah yeah, so I've dealt with the scavenging, why I've not been doing it as much is because I've had like 3 of them crash in a row. The mining, what I've been doing is using is heavens drill right now so let me pull that up on here. So the mining, heavens drill at level 7 I've been doing. So at level 7, the danger is at 40% it's still sorta dangerous but it's 4-10 items and lately I've been getting like 7 or 8 generally. So with the reliability, I haven't really had them crash a whole lot so far and it's let me get, what I'm looking for most right now is the gold ore. And I've been getting a few of them from it.

Zach: For my mining, I've been doing just level 1 jobs with just basic miner level 1.

Matt: Oh really?

Zach: Yeah, that's why I've been doing.

Matt: So just like the 100 credit ones or do you use the 500's?

Zach: Nope, I've been using basic miner.

Matt: Do they still take like hours to come back?

Zach: Yup, it takes up to 5 hours.

Matt: Oh ok yeah yeah. The ones I've been doing are generally 10-12 hours. Which is quite a while? It is worth it if you actually get the good yield out of it. Like I get excited seeing the gold ore and like the artificial wood and all that stuff. But anything speaking of all this new stuff we wouldn't be able to have it without the development team that we have kinda mustered over the last couple of years. So personal thank you from me and Zach too, and it would suck if i have forgotten somebody's name. But, of the top of my head, Lynx, Bongo, Aldo for his previous work. I know he put a lot of time and effort into this game and we defiantly appreciated that. We got Rollin. Who am I missing here Zach?

Zach: We got Steven.

Matt: Yup, we got Steven with the art. We defiantly need the art, not a lot of us are creative types here. So yeah, personal thank you to all you guys here. They do this strictly voluntarily because they love the game. And you know a game for 12 years or more years old that has like 100 people logging in a day, it's ridiculous the amount of effort that goes into it from these people. So thank you.

Zach: It really is. I know some people don't enjoy the updates, they complain a bit.

Matt: Yeah, they just don't like change or something.

Zach: Yeah, basically some people don't like change and they want to go back. Change is always for the best.

Matt: Yeah, I think so.

Zach: Yeah, it will keep the game moving.

Matt: Yeah, exactly. Like we said, it doesn't have a whole lot of players on it. But if nothing changes for years at a time the people that still do love the game, they are eventually just going to start logging off because it's no different.

Zach: Yeah, it's how we lost all the other people.

Matt: Yeah, it sucks seeing a bunch of players not login like months at a time.

Zach: Because there was no change. But some people came back because they logged in one day to have a look at what's happening and they saw that there was change and some people have stayed. Which is really good.

Matt: It is nice to see. Getting those veterans back. Like I think Viper who is Danny, he was gone for years and now he's playing again. Of course, our boy Legoman went off to summer camp. He's back.

  • both laugh*

Matt: Which by the way I thought summer camp was for the duration of the summer. He was gone like 5 days haha.

Zach: Yeah, I don't understand.

Matt: So hopefully he's going to listen to this and I hope he feels happy that we missed him while he was gone haha.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: But I mean with that being said, with all the work that is being done with our development team. Is there anything that you would like to see in the future? Like I mean I'm not telling you to come up with a system or anything but like any little changes that you would think would be a good fit in the future.

Zach: Oh, man.

Matt: Haha, yeah. That's kind of a hard question.

Zach: Yeah, that is a very hard question. Let's see here. Basically just keep doing updates, just keep being you.

Matt: Yeah, we haven't really asked for anything, in particular, it's just been great. But, it would be nice and I know it would hurt the architecture of the game to do it. But to do a wasteland map with just 2 teams. In my opinion, like scrapping the 4 names and doing just 2 new names, even if it's just for a map. But I mean, the architecture of the game has the gang lore all around it. So it's not an easy thing to do at all. But it would be cool to be assigned to 1 of 2 gangs and then you're stuck there for the duration of the round.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: And it would really help the active player base want to play more because you got your DF's and your TC's like there's 4 or 5 of them playing at a time. I wouldn't keep motivated to go into the wasteland.

Zach: I've seen some of the stuff that Steven teased like 6 months ago. Some of the ideas he had in that thread before he deleted it just for a like tease. They were pretty good, they were pretty good. Some people won't agree because it's a lot of change but I think it's for the best.

Matt: It is funny too because like I can understand the perspective of like Bonghitter and like Darp of something. I mean Darp hopped gang's pretty briefly to TC. Those are the people I see as lifers and if they were to be represented in a different gang it wouldn't seem right. So I can defiantly see both sides of the argument. It would make fun for a 1 map rotation to have just 2 strong teams facing against each other.

Zach: Bonghitter has left OC for a day, years and years back but he joined right after.

Matt: Did he even go to another gang or did he just go rouge?

Zach: I can't remember honestly.

Matt: Yeah, it was cool I saw Darp in the TC forums and I was like what plant and I living on? haha.

Zach: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, yeah so I mean I think that kinda wraps up everything that we wanted to talk about for the first podcast. I mean depending on how many of you guys want to hear it or whatever suggestions we get we'd love to make some more. You know talking about crafting, wasteland. Whatever is the hot topic at the time.

Zach: Yeah. So I mean, what could be done to the Shadow Forge.

Matt: So right now the Shadow Forge, you can craft, you can transfer experience and you can split crystals currently.

Zach: Yeah, like splitting crystals like I think more can be done to it.

Matt: Yeah, I mean some kind of item you can craft. Like crystal customization, like hybrid crystals and stuff like that. That would be pretty cool.

Zach: We could also add - a lot of people want item deconstruction.

Matt: Ohhh, man I forgot all about that, I'd love that.

Zach: They could obviously add that to Shadow Forge because that's basic crafting.

Matt: For sure. Actually to make people pretty angry, I actually just sold my T2 Scyfe to the game for 22,000 credits haha.

Zach: I did that too.

Matt: Did you really? haha. What a waste if deconstruction does come out I know probably the would have been worth a nice hefty amount of crafting materials.

Zach: Yeah yeah.

Matt: So I feel pretty crappy about that but you know 22k goes a long way nowadays.

Zach: Oh yeah.

Matt: Well anyway, we will leave you with that. Maybe it will come up in the forums what we will do after this, any suggestions that you would want for the crafting system or the crystal system for that matter, the wasteland system. Anything like that, leave in the comments and we can discuss that at a later date. We can talk to the devs, of course, this game is all about conversation right so, get the devs aware. See what the players want and then make something right. That's what we want.

Zach: Yeah exactly.

Matt: But anyway thanks so much for watching, er listening not watching. Well I mean you can watch the black screen if you want. It would be the best doing the wasteland while listening to us anyway. But yeah that you for giving us the time out of your day and we bid you adieu.

Zach: Have a good one.
