The casino in Legacy is one of the most misunderstood aspects of the game around. Rewarding yet frustrating at the same time, a common refrain on Side Chat is "The dealer is a cheater" or "High Low sucks".

This guide aims to demystify the casino, and hopefully provide Chapter members with a number of strategies to make the most of the opportunities it provides.

A basic guide of the mechanics of the casino games can be found in sector one's library, read that to understand about how a particular game works. This guide will instead focus on strategies, highlighting important parts of the different games.

If you find this guide useful and you profit from the casino due to it, please consider donating part of the profit to the avatar fund (talk to council) or selling your winnings cheaply to fellow TC'ers. Enjoy!

  • The games, specifically Blackjack, do not cheat. Zorg has shown coding for Blackjack, proving that a player has an equal chance of being dealt a certain card as the dealer.

What makes the odds in the casino's favor is that; splitting is not allowed, the cards are shuffled after each deal (negating the use of card counting), there is a relatively low maximum bet and, as the player, you have to guess what the dealer has as his second card.

  • Set a target for what you want to achieve and stick with it. If you are a level 20 and do not own a samurai armor, try to win that rather than a magma plate. Also look at the market first and see what will sell best taking into account the number of tokens required. The Market watch in The Chapter's library should be helpful for this.
  • The lotto and slot machines are not discussed as no effective strategies have been devised to play them.
  • These strategies are made much more effective if you acquire a gold card first. Paying 1k credits for one is a worthy investment.

Please note that the "foolproof" in the title refers to the method being simple to understand and execute, it does not mean that there is even close to 100% chance of success.

Follow These Five Simple Steps:

  • 1. Get a gold card if you don't already have one.
  • 2. Bet 100 tokens on the 1:1 rat race.
  • 3. If it wins you have 200 tokens and go to step four.
  • 4. If it loses wait until tomorrow when you have another 100 tokens and repeat step 2.
  • 4. Bet 200 tokens on the 4:1 rat.
  • 5. If it wins you have 1000 tokens. If it loses wait until tomorrow and repeat step 2.

This strategy is good for people who do not have a lot of game time to use, but does take one and a half days of real time.

With the 1000 tokens, a gold card or set of playing cards could be bought, or other methods could be used to get enough tokens to buy a type of armor.

This method is very quick, both in terms of time required to make the bets, and the time for a result to be found. Unfortunately it also has a very low chance of success of reaching large amounts of tokens- anybody who has a target of over 2000 tokens would be well advised to use another method.

Method:

Essentially this involves placing the maximum possible bet on a game of high-low and repeating until either all tokens are lost or the goal is reached.

With High-Low: Ace to 6: Choose higher 7: If there are more cards above 7 already showing, choose lower and vice versa. If they are evenly dealt or the 7 was dealt as the first card, there is an even chance of higher or lower. 8 to King: Choose lower.

This method could be used with Blackjack, but is less effective because of the stricter betting limits, and the inability to use the "double" feature for the early bets.

As the name implies, this method requires a great deal of time and patience to work. With Blackjack, it can take over ten hours to work your way up to 4000 tokens for a magma, but also has a greater chance of succeeding than most other methods.

Blackjack betting->

Start with a bet of 5. If you lose, bet 10, then 20, 40,80 and finally 150 until you win. Once a win is achieved, return to the start.

If you double a 5,10 or 20 bet, skip one bet and go to the higher one. For example: you bet 10, double and lose. You would then bet 40 (skipping 20) for the next hand.

If you lose a double on 40,80 or 150, continue betting normally, but try to recoup your losses after you win. For example, you lose on an 80 token bet which you doubled. Bet 150 for the next hand (hopefully you win) then start at 20 for the next few betting series, until you are where you would have been if you had not lost the double.

If you lose on a 150 bet, keep betting 150 tokens until you win. Once you do, assess where you are. You may decide to cut your losses, but usually after such a run of bad luck you will get a series of good hands.

You could keep betting 150 until you are fairly close to your original tokens, then drop the betting down to 80, then 40 and so on until you get back to where you were.

Obviously this is the place where you can potentially lose all your tokens, so play wisely. If necessary, take some time-out to clear your head so you can play rationally.

This method can also be used with high-low, but Blackjack provides better odds of profit in the longrun.

There are other betting methods, some more aggressive than others. To start, it may be a good idea to bet 50 until you get 200 tokens, 40 up to 300, 20 up to 400 and 10 after.

This will explain exactly when to hit, stand or double when playing Blackjack.

When you are dealt a hand, you will notice a total next to it saying a number and whether it is hard or soft. If you are dealt an ace, and in calculating your hand's total that ace can be counted as an eleven without you busting, then that hand is soft. All other hands are hard.

Remember that jacks, queens and kings count as ten.

If your hand has a hard total of:

8 or less: Hit 9: Double vs (if the dealer has) 3,4,5 or 6. Otherwise hit. 10: Double vs 3,4,5 or 6 11: Double vs 3,4,5,6 or 7 12: Stand vs 4,5,6. Otherwise hit. 13, 14, 15, 16: Stand vs 2,3,4,5,6. Otherwise hit. 17 and over: Stand

If your hand has an ace and: 2 or 3: Hit. 4 or 5: Hhit. 6 : Double vs 3-6. Otherwise hit. 7 : Double vs 3-6. hit vs 9,T,Ace otherwise stand. 8 or 9: Double vs 3-6, otherwise stand.
