The Terms of Service of Legacy are the basic rules. Abide by them, and players should have no trouble. If any of these are broken, players may find themselves banned or disfavored. The actual ingame Terms of Service can be found in the Police Station. Take the time to skim through it briefly, or you may suddenly find yourself suffering under the consequences. Players who break the TOS can be found under the "Banned Players" link located in the Police Station.
Terms of service are as follows:
Introduction
Everyone who creates an account on Legacy agrees to these terms of service, we reserve the right to change them at any time without notice. Any changes to this document will be posted in game login news. Any violation of these terms may result in deletion or suspension of your account.
1.0 Communications
Any time you communicate with others through our website you must abide by the rules below.
A large part of online gaming is about communication, whether through messages, forums or online chat. Even the information you leave in your profile is a method of communication with others. All must be pleasant, we do not allow any illegal communications including (but not limited to) material, which may be deemed to be offensive, abusive, indecent, defamatory, obscene, menacing, or in breach of copyright or contract, privacy, or other rights which may or may not be listed above.
1.1 Flooding / Spamming
Do not attempt to flood our website or spam our forums with useless posts.
All posts made in any of our forums must be in some way constructive and on topic, any that are not will be considered spam. Repeated posting of the same or similar text will be considered flooding. Spamming is not allowed in any forums except for clan forums (at the clan leaders discretion), where as flooding is prohibitted in all forums and chat channels.
1.2 Advertisement
We run this website without advertisements, that goes for you as well!
You may not discuss or advertise any other browser-based multiplayer games in side chat, this includes linking to or talking about them. This also applies to all forums except the flame forum, not related forum and private clan forums.
1.3 Flame Forum
This forum is for adults only and has a few exceptions to the above rules.
We run a special forum called the 'Flame Forum', this is for adults only. Some of the posts in this forum may be deemed offensive and the language used may be of a more mature nature. However, we still will not tolerate illegal content, spamming or posting of pornographic content. Nor will we tolerate abuse of other players, clans or voluntary staff members. Taking part in this forum is optional.
1.4 Staff / Player Harassment
No attempts to intentionally annoy or harass other players or staff members.
If a player or staff member blocks you from messaging them you are expected to leave them alone. Continued attempts to bully, annoy or harass them through public channels will be met with staff action.
1.5 Image Posting
No posting huge images that break our website.
Any images that are posted within Legacy must be within the width limit (usually 400 pixels) that is specified. This includes but is not limited to your forum signature, forum posts, gang books or market stands. Some areas also have height limits such as forum signatures. Multiple images are allowed but it is down to staff judgement as to what is considered too big.
2.0 Macro / Bot / Bug Abuse
Do not use automated scripting, macros or abuse parts of the game acting in an incorrect fashion.
We constantly monitor our game through many log files and real time systems, the use of bots or macros to play the game for you and/or give you an edge over other players is prohibited. Similarly if you find any part of the game that is acting incorrectly due to a scripting error you must report it to us and not abuse it for personal gain.
3.0 Multiple Accounts
Each person gets one account and may not log in to the accounts of others.
Each player may create a single account and you are prohibited from logging in to any account you did not create. If you share a work place, school or network with other players you are not allowed to trade with them in any way. Any trading with people on the same IP address as yourself will cause your account to be considered multi-accounts and removed from the game.
3.1 Farming / Funding Accounts
Accounts may not exist to fund others and groups may not work together to cheat the system.
Accounts may not exist soley to fund another with any form of in-game currencies. You may not use your account to give experience to another by removing items, reviving at request or leaving gangs then rejoining. You also are not allowed to help enemy gangs gain warfare points or territory in the wasteland. All participants in such activity will be punished.
3.2 Scamming / Theft
No stealing or attempting to steal things that do not belong to you.
Any attempt to steal in-game property from other players is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to accounts, currencies, items and clans. Outwitting another player through scams changes nothing, it will still be considered theft.
4.0 Account Recovery / Deletion
We do not delete accounts on request, recovering forgotten passwords requires a valid email address.
If you do not use a valid email address or keep your email address updated, then account recovery will not be possible. No staff members delete accounts on request, this process is automated.
5.0 Anti-Legacy Behavior
Do not host or spread information designed to disrupt our website.
Anybody found to be promoting or hosting information designed to disrupt Legacy will have their access to our website blocked. This includes but is not limited to information about bugs, staff members, macros, bots or other forms of cheating.
5.1 External Spamming
No giving our website a bad name by abusing other websites to advertise us.
When going to other websites to advertise ours, you are expected to follow their rules as you would our own. Any reports of spamming, flooding or breaking other websites rules to link to Legacy will result in your referral code being removed.
6.0 Gang Leadership
When you are put in charge of a gang you must act in that gangs best interests.
Those who participate in the leadership of our four gangs (everyone of rank 11 or higher) must always act in their gangs best interests. Any actions taken to sabotage the gang, kick members without reason or take over ruling councils for enemy gang motives will be dealt with by staff members.
6.1 Espionage and Corruption
Some exceptions to the above rule are detailed below.
Exceptions to the above rule are as follows. Having people in enemy gangs spy on them irrelevant of rank and plots to gain power in gangs for personal gain (not enemy gang motivated) will not be stopped by staff. However, both may be met with harsh response by gang leadership if discovered.
7.0 Dynamic Rules
If a staff member tells you something clearly, you are expected to follow it.
When running competitions or other events, staff members may need to apply temporary rules to situations. These are expected to be followed as if they are from the terms of service. You will be informed of these rules in a direct and clear way.
