The Terms of Service of Legacy are the basic rules. Abide by them, and players should have no trouble. If any of these are broken, players may find themselves banned or disfavored. The actual ingame Terms of Service can be found in the Police Station. Take the time to skim through it briefly, or you may suddenly find yourself suffering under the consequences. Players who break the TOS can be found under the "Banned Players" link located in the Police Station.

Terms of service are as follows:

Introduction

Everyone who creates an account on Legacy agrees to these terms of service, we reserve the right to change them at any time without notice. Any changes to this document will be posted in game login news. Any violation of these terms may result in deletion or suspension of your account.

1.0 Communications
A large part of online gaming is about communication, whether through messages, forums or online chat. Even the information you leave in your profile is a method of communication with others. All must be pleasant, we do not allow any illegal communications including (but not limited to) material, which may be deemed to be offensive, abusive, indecent, defamatory, obscene, menacing, or in breach of copyright or contract, privacy, or other rights which may or may not be listed above.

1.1 Hive Forum and Chat
When using forums (including clan forums), side chat and online chat you must abide by all communication rules, as well as not spamming or flooding. Spamming is posting useless posts to increase your post count, any post that in a moderators opinion did not need to be posted will be called spam. This also applies for flooding in online chat and side chat, be aware that we log the chat 24 hours a day.

1.2 Advertisement
You may not discuss or advertise any other browser-based multiplayer games in side chat, this includes linking to or talking about them. This also applies to all forums except the Not Related forum and private clan forums.

2.0 Hacking/Cheating
Almost all of our game is server-side; this makes things like trainers obsolete. However, it is still possible to cheat by use of macros and other programs that play the game for you - We have ways of detecting these sort of things, using macros or program to play the game for you is not allowed.

2.1 Bug Abuse
The game is in a state of constant development; every new system added will be tested to the best of our ability. However, it is a fact of life that we will miss things and bugs will get through. Any bugs you find must be reported to a member of staff and then left alone. If a bug is found and reported, you may also gain favor from the staff.

2.2 Scamming
Scams are not allowed in Legacy, this includes saying you will send players items or credits in a trade and failing to do so, fake competitions or any method of getting credits or items using lies. However, we reserve the right to not act on scams if the person being scammed has had it happen to them more than once, take your own precautions and use the market for trades. Scammers will be punished at staff discretion, we make no promises of being able to return lost items or credits.

3.0 Multi-Accounts
Each person playing this game gets one account each. Anyone with more than one account will get all of his/her accounts deleted. This is one of our main concerns, and our admins will constantly be watching times of logins, IP Addresses, money transfers, etc. to try and catch people with more than one account.

3.1 Account Sharing
Legacy does not allow any form of account sharing, this means you cannot give your account and password to somebody while you are on holiday or so they can level you up while you are not online. Logging in to any account you did not create is forbidden.

3.2 Account Stealing
Account security is your concern - our account database is secure. If someone gets your password, it is your fault. Any actions on your account (even if it is stolen) that violate these terms of service will suffer the same punishments. However, anyone caught stealing or attempting to steal accounts will be punished.

3.3 Account Money Transfer
Any accounts created for the sole purpose of funding a main account or clan are illegal, whether made by the same person or someone else. If you give excessive amounts of your money to a main account or clan you will be treated as a multi-account.

3.4 Exp-Farming
Group efforts to get experience are not permitted, this includes but is not limited to, having friends heal so you can defeat them for experience, or leaving clans so you can kill clan mates then returning. Both healer and attacker will be punished if this happens.

3.5 Family Members
We allow one account per person, however if you're in the same house or using the same internet connection/proxy server there is to be no interaction between the accounts in the way of credit or item transfer. This means do not trade with family members, friends who visit and login using your computer or people at your school/office.

3.6 Cross Trading
You are not permitted to trade any in game property for real world or other game property. This includes but is not limited to accounts, credits, items and subscription time. All virtual property remains under the sole ownership of Legacy.

4.0 Password Recovery
We offer a password resetting system through e-mail. However, if you don't enter a true email address, then this feature is not available to you. If your password gets changed, or you forget it, the account is lost forever, and staff will not honor requests to have the account deleted or password changed.

4.1 Account Deletion
Except in a situation where extreme rules are broken, staff will not delete an account. If you want your account removed you must not login for a set period of time and it will be deleted for inactivity. We do not delete accounts on request.

5.0 Anti-Legacy Behavior
We reserve the right to ban/delete accounts of anyone found to be hosting, promoting anti-legacy websites. By anti-legacy we mean sites made to promote hacking, cheating or bug abuse on our game. This also includes knowing someone is breaking the terms of service, and not reporting it to staff. So if you know your friend abuses bugs to get money and don't report it, you will be treated exactly the same as them.

5.1 Staff Harassment
The staff are there to help and answer questions, if you ask staff a question and get an answer you either ask a different question or leave them alone. They have to help the whole of Legacy and don't always have time to explain why they can't do things, or why they will not. If they say 'no' they mean 'no', repeated questioning or annoying of staff is not allowed.

6.0 External Spamming
We have had multiple complaints of spamming in newsgroups some of which completely unrelated to Legacy. Any account who goes out of the game and breaks forum or newsgroup rules on other websites to advertise Legacy will be punished.

6.1 Forum Signatures
Your forum signature cannot contain any images bigger than 400 pixels width and 300 pixels height. Multiple images are allowed but it is up to forum moderators' judgement as to what is considered too big.

7.0 Gang Leadership
Those who participate in the leading of our four gangs (everyone of rank 11 or higher) must always act in their gangs best interests. Any actions taken to sabotage the gang, kick members without reason or take over ruling councils for enemy gang motives will be dealt with by staff members.

7.1 Espionage/Corruption
Exceptions to the above rule are as follows. Having people in enemy gangs spy on them irralevent of rank and plots to gain power in gangs for personal gain (not enemy gang motivated) will not be stopped by staff. However, both may be met with harsh response by gang leadership if discovered.

7.2 Enemy Assistance
The person or gang you are fighting cannot assist you in your efforts to gain points, experience, etc. This includes but is not limited to removal of items so you can be defeated, purposefully reviving so friends may defeat you and handing back and forth squares in warfare while asking others not to defend them. Attackers, defenders and gang councils may be subject to punishment for this.

8.0 Finally
We take all the measures within our power to protect information entered into our site, things such as emails will never be shared with anyone. However if our database security is compromised we can take no responsibility for information that is stolen.

Conclusion

This is a free game, we pay money so you can play for free. Follow our rules and play in a sociable manner and you will have no problems. Those who set out to disrupt our game will be banned and deleted without compromise.
