Matt: Welcome.

 +

Matt: I'm trying to start the fu****ing show haha. Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the second official legacy podcast, cause' it's still the official. I've claimed the throne from Deeg, I'm just not going to throw him anything anymore. So we've got of course myself, we've got Zach, say hello Zach.
 +
 +
Zach: Hello.
 +
 +
Matt: And of course we've got a special guest today as well. Some of you may know him from the sidechat, some of you may know him for some other things that he has done, but I'll let him introduce himself.
 +
 +
Aldo: My name Jeff.
 +
 +
*everyone laughs
 +
 +
Aldo: Hey everyone, it's uh, it's er Zorg. I know I've been away for a while. Alright, let's not do this.
 +
 +
*everyone laughs
 +
 +
Matt: Actually, it's pronounced Gustav.
 +
 +
Aldo: Hey everybody, it's Aldo. I am officially back as a volunteer develeoper after it's been almost 2 years now. I stopped developing um - that's right it's been 1 year, last June, May or something. But yeah, I'm back. I got approval from work, as most of you know I legally couldn't work on legacy as a volunteer dev due to some legalize, but got that sorted out, I'm back cause' I wanted to be back and got some exciting stuff planned what we'll talk about in the podcast.
 +
 +
Matt: Incredible, so yeah. How is it being Google?
 +
 +
Aldo: How is it being Google?
 +
 +
Matt: Yes.
 +
 +
Aldo: Oh wow, you know I mean being Google is a huge responsibility. You know you get asked a ton of questions every day.
 +
 +
Matt: Yeah, I was gonna say like you response time is pretty cutting edge.
 +
 +
Aldo: Yeah yeah I am pretty cutting edge. But no being at Google is pretty fun . Not going to lie, it's kinda spoiled me, you get good food. Like they literally do whatever they can to make sure you have a good work environment and you don't wanna leave work and keep working.
 +
 +
Matt: Yeah, I guess that's why they're a billion dollar company.
 +
 +
Aldo: I'm really fortunate to have this job like straight out of college and I love my team, they're pretty awesome people. But yeah, it's been going great but lately, I've been feeling that I should share my love for developing things elsewhere and I decided who better than the most non-toxic, friendly community in the history of MMO's.
 +
 +
Matt: Yeah, in its long long legacy, haha. Ok, so what have you got to bring to us today? What are your projects? You got any projects yet?
 +
 +
Aldo: Yeah. Are we talking about legacy projects?
 +
 +
Matt: Haha, no, tell me about your google projects haha.
 +
 +
*everybody laughs
 +
 +
Aldo: So yeah ads haha. I've got a little image of my roadmap here. Obviously, I don't have the time to dedicate to legacy that I did before. Some of you may know that I worked on this at the randomness of hours, I gave it a lot of hours and a lot of updates, I think we had some great updates out there but since I'm doing this now in my free time after work, I probably won't dedicate as much. So what I'm doing is focusing on some big updates. So um Matt you have the image of my roadmap, why don't you say like what the points are and what you think of them.
 +
 +
Matt: So yeah we can, of course, like I can put a link of it in the description of SoundCloud, I don't think I'll put it in the forums yet. But I mean it's going to be next week so you never know.
 +
 +
Aldo: Yeah, I think by the time people are listening to me right now whoever you are, I probably will be officially revealed.
 +
 +
Matt: Yeah, that's good. Some nice future planning. So looking at the roadmap right now, the first google maps bullet point.
 +
 +
*everyone laughs
 +
 +
Aldo: Disclaimer, let's keep Google out of this. I do not want to associate my day job with uh Legacy.
 +
 +
*everyone laughs
 +
 +
Matt: So the first bullet point says raids. So how can that even happen in this game haha.
 +
 +
Aldo: Yeah raids um. Sorry, Zach what were you saying?
 +
 +
Zach: Well raids is like wasteland, but not sort-of and yeah.
 +
 +
Aldo: Yeah Matt, what are raids to you? What do you think raids are?
 +
 +
Matt: So to me it would be like a team of people, like I mean it doesn't necessarily have to be your friends with you.
 +
 +
Aldo: Uh huh.
 +
 +
Matt: Starting in a spot going through this kinda guided tunnel of challenges and at the end, you face your biggest challenge which gives you your biggest reward or chance at the biggest reward.
 +
 +
Aldo: You play Wolrd Of Warcraft or Destiny 2 or something?
 +
 +
Matt: Haha, Destiny.
 +
 +
Aldo: I mean like I never played any of the - I never played World Of Warcraft. I've played a lot of MMO's but none of them had raids. I think Destiny was the first MMO that I played that had legit raids, that were kinda cool. But yeah, you're exactly right. The way I'm thinking about it at least is a set of challenges or objectives that you need to get through with a group of people is what I'm envisioning our raids to be among other things which I'll get to way later.
 +
 +
Matt: Way later haha.
 +
 +
Aldo: Wayy later. So like Zach just said, if you think about it all those wasteland events we've had where I've added NPCs to the map and I've um I don't know if any of you were the for the first - what I like to call the very first good wasteland event where I started spawning a bunch of casino structures in wasteland. It was around April 1st actually, it was March 30th I think or like the night before April 1st. I started spawning a bunch of structures around wasteland and people didn't know what the hell was going on. Back then we had pretty good online now statistics because a lot of people were coming back due to updates and a lot of structures were being spawned, I started adding NPCs. So I'm sure a lot of people will remember the Cheating Dealers haha.
 +
 +
*everybody laughs
 +
 +
Matt: What was it I made money off them from? Was it medium golden nuggets?
 +
 +
Aldo: Yeah yeah, they put out medium golden nuggets. I don't think Steven was really happy with that.
 +
 +
Matt: I made some money off of that.
 +
 +
Aldo: I mean I just wanted people to have a change of getting some money after all the... I mean yeah, we've had wasteland events like that and there was another one where I spawned these weird alien hive-like structures around the map and I think in all of these events it was me using these shitty editors I threw together to actually do it.
 +
 +
Matt: Yeah, I always wondered how that went.
 +
 +
Aldo: Yeah, it's a very involved process on my end cause' I'm bouncing between multiple dropdown lists and editors editing stuff and trying to keep up with what's going on in wasteland. I'd like send staff in there and get people to tell me what's going on. So back then Meepers was helping me out a lot with Volunteer Development, he was a content creator I think was his title.
 +
 +
Matt: I think he chose that title.
 +
 +
*everybody laughs
 +
 +
Aldo: Yeah he doesn't play anymore I think. We're friends IRL but he doesn't play the game anymore. But yeah it was a lot of me having to keep up with what was going on and like in a way that was good because I was reacting sorta organically to what was going on, I was sending out these system messages, these session messages - the transmissions so to speak and like putting out NPCs appropriately. I had a lot of fun doing it and I thought something like this is what raids will eventually be like. You know you have these objectives, you're doing it with people and your objectives will be to like wipe these buildings out, destroy these NPCs. So in the context of what raids actually would be for legacy. It essentially another wasteland system and it's just a better wasteland system where people are basically entering their own - how should I put it? Their own wastelands.
 +
 +
Matt: Uh huh.
 +
 +
Aldo: Like I could go with you and Zach into my own map. This is like my own instances raid and uh we can go round killing these NPCs and carrying out these objectives, solving these like little puzzles what have you in an instance and then you know we get all the rewards at the end of it.
 +
 +
Matt: Very cool.
 +
 +
Aldo: I'm talking a lot so you guys should totally introject - keep like asking more stuff.
 +
 +
Zach: I've got a question um. With the raids could different gangs go into the same raids?
 +
 +
Aldo: Oh yeah sure.
