Summary

Targeting Modules have the ability to locate various items throughout the Hive by scanning. The user has little control over what they search for, causing the results of the scans to be very exciting.

Overcharge Scan

NOTE: REQUIRES INTERMEDIATE ITEM STUDY ABILITY

If you click 'Use' on a Targeting Module in your inventory with at least 10 Trades, you will be given the option to run an Overcharge Scan. Running an Overcharge Scan will reduce the Targeting Module by 10 Trades upon activation.

Upon running an Overcharge Scan, the Targeting Module will inform you of a Target and lock on to an item that they possess. You can fight any level of the target, and they will eventually drop the item.

  • If you forget what your target/item is, by clicking Use on the Targeting Module in your inventory you can see the results of the last Overcharge Scan. (This will be cleared upon obtaining the item)
  • You can only have 1 Active Scan per Targeting Module. If you have multiple Targeting Modules with Active Scans, only the 1st one for each target will appear at a time (The first one in your inventory starting from top left). Obtaining the item will allow the next item to be dropped.
  • Once locked on, a Targeting Module can be put in Storage or Traded and will retain the Target/Item.

Phantom Scan

Preview of a Phantom Scans Results

If you click 'Use' on a Targeting Module in your inventory, you will be given the option to run a Phantom Scan. Running a Phantom Scan requires a Targeting Module to have at minimum 1 Trade (1 Trade is lost upon activation). The Module will then reveal every Phantom item that is currently dispersed amongst the Players.

  • Note that Phantom Items appear every 4 hours (Ex. 00:00, 04:00, 08:00, etc.) and using it when no Phantom Items are currently out will still consume a Trade. Phantom items can be obtained by other means, but it is still recommended to search while the Phantom Event is up to guarentee results.

Aiden

Test Subject 1: Aiden is a SNPC that can be hunted after a small mini-quest to unlock him.

First you must obtain Operation Code A, Operation Code B, Operation Code C, and have a Targeting Module (with any number of Trades). Once you have those, go to the Hunting page and scroll to any level X-Corp Droid and you will see the option to "Talk". Provide the codes to the X-Corp Droid in the order A -> C -> B while a Targeting Module (of any Trade amount) is in your inventory, and you will have unlocked Aiden.

The Targeting Module in your inventory will now have the message...

"Data Received by Droid Node
You plug in the coordinates received from the X-Corp Droid. The coordinate format seems specific to this device. Target: Aiden's location has been established within the hive."

NOTE: While this is doable at any level, should you try to hunt Aiden before level 80 - you will find yourself unable to engage in combat.
