When you become an Avatar you gain exclusive access to the development server, which allows you to see updates before they are implemented into the main game. The development server is a place which used to be accessible only to staff and a select few people. It became available to Avatars on the November 14, 2007, to help Zorg test out some of his updates and to give Avatars a place to gain Avatar again.
